Spearhead

Grand Admiral Proudmoore stood on the top of the old Massasi temple and watched as the last troops from the 501st entered the transport shuttle.
It had been an easy victory on Yavin IV. To him it seemed like the Rebels did not even want to defend the moon.
The small fleet the Rebels had sent was crushed by the bombers and the Decimator "Floodgate" was able to secure the landing of the 501st.
They overwhelmed what little resistance was left on the small rebel base and secured the moon.
And capturing the ISD "Vanquisher" had been even easier! The Grand Admiral had been aboard of one of the troop transports that brought the battalions
of the 501st into the Hangar of the battleship. After overcomming the resistance in the hangar the ship's commander had surrendered the ISD to the Empire.
Even though the rebels tried to recap the ISD while it's systems were still offline with the 501st securing it, they only send a small escort ship which
turned out be an easy pick for the imperial bombers in the system.
All in all it seemed to Proudmoore like the Rebels wanted them to take the Yavin system, showing just as much resistance to make the Empire believe they did not
hand it to them right away. Something wasn't adding up here.
He knew most of the imperial officers thought of the rebels as a small annoyance during the rebuild of the Empire, consisting only of untrained seditionist,
but he was sure there were some experienced commanders in the rebel crowd that called itself a fleet.
The Grand Admiral's adjutant came up the steps to the rooftop and walked up to him.

"Grand Admiral, the base is now secured by imperial troops and the technicians are already decoding the files in the computersystems.
The 501st has finished boarding and is ready to move back to Bastion. The Fleet can leave as soon as you give the order."

"They won't find anything in this base, the rebels just gave it up." said the Grand Admiral.

As he went for the shuttle to take him back to his flagship he was still thinking why the rebels hadn't put up more of a fight.
But there were more important things comming up. The Emperor had ordered to secure the Kuat and Bilbringi system.
And it was obvious that the Fleet and the 501st would have to fight at the very front of these battles to ensure the victory!

Re: Spearhead

Grand Master Kira Noennel sat in her quarters within the Jedi Academy, her head in her hands. The praxeum, gone. All that Luke Skywalker had built and done to revive the Jedi Order now sat in Imperial clutches. Sure the Jedi had managed to evacuate the Great Temple leaving no piece of equipment or holo record behind, but the price they had paid was to much. Many knights and padawans had fallen trying to hold back the stormtroopers. And the New Republic had only made a half-hearted effort to help. She was angry, all those students and those promising knights were now lost, their lives extinguished due to Republic incompetence.

"And they expect the Order to help them defend against the Empire, yet when we need them they cower making excuses!" she growled into her cupped hands.

The surviving council members needed to discuss what they were going to do in the light of this disaster. They still had the academy and the Temple on Coruscant but for how long they could stay with rising anti-Jedi sentiment was to be questioned.

She rose, tying her flowing red hair back and pulling on her brown robe. I guess the future now lies in my hands she thought as she left her quarters. The next few weeks were going to be difficult.

Re: Spearhead

Standing on the front of the bridge of his Decimator escort ship, the Floodgate, Gabe Schneider looked down upon Yavin IV and watched the Imperial shuttles enter the atmosphere.
"All too easy." He said to himself and ate another spoon of his Corellian noodle soup. "The petty rest of this rebellion will meet its demise sooner than they can see it coming" he continued,
turning towards the ensign that approached him to bring the news of some paperwork that needed filling out.
The rest of his day was spent working on said paperwork and making some minor repairs to his ship.

In the night, however, something strange happened to him.
He had just gotten into bed, when he felt a strange force affecting his left eye and then slowly but surely spreading out across his body. after 5 minutes his entire body felt like it was floating above the ground.
On top of that, he was completely blind, which he deduced from the fact, that he was not able able to see the dim red light he had installed in his cabin to assist him with his sleep issues.
Was this a dream? No it was not. he had tried every trick he knew to snap out of it but there he was. Still not feeling anything, not seeing anything, not hearing anything.

When he woke up the next moring he was laying next to his bed, on top of which the pillow and the blanket were perfectly placed. Feeling very dizzy he tumbled out of the bed and into his shower.
No, this could not have been a dream. As the cold water washed away the sleepiness, he still felt how his muscles were only responing very slowly. But what force could have affected him in this magnitude?
He was not sure. He was certain that things would not remain as easy as they had been though...

Re: Spearhead

Still angered from the meeting Grand Admiral Proudmoore made his way to his quarters inside the Bastion Military Control. A stopgap-solution since the Imperial Sector Command in Bilbringi was still not under imperial control! And the MAJESTIC was currently in no condition to serve as a fleet HQ.

Those stubborn old commaders!
More than four weeks! More than six major engagements and two battles versus the rebel fleet!
Just to make the other Fleet Commanders see that the threat was real! And how dared they blame the losses on him?

The INQUISITOR was lost, the Floodgate and the TEMPEST had to be taken out of commission, the Ark Royal undergoing constant repairs in-between deployments. The only bright side was that he finally commissioned the MAJESTIC, but even she was at the Bilbringi Shipyard undergoing repairs and refit after the battle at Bespin!

And those short sighted old imperial fleet commanders were not willing to increase the budget!
He had to resort to the Sienar Fleet Systems and their Directors to ask for fleet supplies! Unbelievable! The Imperial Fleet living off the breadcrumbs of commercial traders!
If he could just wipe that smug grin out of the face of the Sienar Executive Director.

Proudmoore despised that Twi’lek! Even with the new, not as harsh, rules about non-humans in the imperial service, Twi’leks were still scum!
At least he finally pushed the decision through to restock the fleet with full complements of TIE-Fighters, Interceptors and Bombers. With the current budget it was certain he could not get all fleet ships fully equipped with TIE-Avengers or Defenders, those were far too costly to maintain. And the Interceptors seemed to be still up to the task. The last report from Marshall Eagle showed that although they suffered some expected losses they were able to hold off the rebel fighters and bombers for quite some time, and even scored some kills.

The Grand Admiral reached for the code pad next to the door to his quarters, entered his code and the door hissed open.
Slowly lowering himself into his chair behind his command-desk he saw the orange glow of a high priority message on the com-link.
Obviously this day would not end as relaxing as he had hoped for…

Re: Spearhead

Lieutenant Talis
Imperial Navy
Bastion Skyhook
0530 hrs

The captain of the IN Fleet ship Reprieve stands at attention, looking down on all the work by the endless numbers of workers.
The ship Reprieve was recently lost, in an ion storm that erupted out of nowhere. The captain walks across the walkway along with many of the officers and crew that survived the tragedy. Already the Imperial War Machine is heavily taxed with its forces spread thin across the galaxy carrying out the will of the emperor. The loss of this valuable tool of destruction is too much for the young captain to bear. He leads the men across the walkway and into another part of the station. They enter another large room. With a view of the action in the hangers. Lucky many imperial ships were on station when it happened, so many crewmembers were spared from death, with civilian tugs hauling the remains of the ship back to bastion. The captain sees a piece of debris with the words Reprieve etched on the surface. A chunk from the bow section of the ship. The mighty carrier made several cruises, including one which supplied heavy bombers with ordnance proving the carriers worth and value among both bomber jocks and High Command. He leads the Crew into a room. The survivors finding chairs to sit in, mechanics, pilots, bridge crew and marines huddle around, wondering what the captain has to say. The young captain, moves to the front of the crew. He motions for everyone to lower their voices and begins to speak, "fellow crew members and pilots of the Reprieve, all is not lost. Although the ship is lost its still too valuable for the empire to ignore. Already crews are working on another ship to replace her. She will bear the same name as her predecessor. Because we have a powerful economic system in place, we can raise the funds quicker and faster than before. Yes it will take some time to fund the carrier, and with escort ship Razor out of action it will hurt us in the short run. But never fear, the empire will triumph in our battle with the Rebels. This is a minor setback, and in a few shorts weeks we shall have our ship ready for action. We plan on upgrading our new ship with new and advanced hardware and load stores of ammunition to supply our brave flyboys out there showing the rebels who really runs the show. So, are you men ready to get back into action and teach the rebels a thing or two in the art of warfare?" The room echoed with cheers, he had done it. With the men's spirits lifted they are ready to follow him at a moments notice. But the reality was the ship was lost, and so it all comes down to when will she be available. The captain left the room still vibrant with men cheering and hollering for the fall of the NR. He returned to his quarters and turned on the Holoprojector. He flipped through all his contacts till he found the people he was looking for. "Grand Admiral Proudmoore" was the first, his commanding officer. And "Sienar Executive Director, Grand Vizier Suddenfrost" the man you call when the empire runs short on funds. The Reprieve along was a expensive ship, not including the Ammunition. He dials and couple of numbers and soon the Projector shows in vivid blue two figures,a human and a Twi’lek, both who project command. The young captain starts to speak and hold to his hat as he conveys his story to the two men........

End Transmission
Talis,
your friendly neighborhood stormtrooper
